Candid Studio Portraits

YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO GET ANGRY ABOUT YOUR FAMILY PORTRAITS AGAIN

Let me explain. Has the following scenario ever happened to you? You see an ad for a free 8 by 10 print or an 8 by 10, 2 - 4 by 6 and 4 wallet size prints for some unbelievably low price. You go to the photo session and while the equipment is impressive, the whole thing is rather static (the camera is on a tripod or some elaborate rail system) and you just basically sit and pose. The session probably last a half hour or so (hey there are other folks waiting their turn). Fast forward to the day you go to pick up your package. You’re sitting across from the sales person who lets you pick out the shot that you want for you package (that’s right, they have already printed them all). Now comes the up-sell. They try to get you to buy overpriced prints that they have already made and your thinking “THEY WILL PROBOBLY END UP RIPPING THEM UP AND THROWING THEM IN THE TRASH!” Now rather than a pleasant experience or seeing and enjoying your family portraits, you’re just plain ticked off. You feel like those pictures of your family are being held hostage and you don’t really want to pay the ransom.

Many photographers are simply in the business of selling expensive “over the fireplace” reprints. Now, there’s nothing wrong with large gorgeous reprints hanging over fireplaces (unless they’re overpriced). If that is what you are looking for—great!—Tom can do that too. But do keep in mind your initial session package is complete and may be all you need. Tom will never try to pressure you into buying reprints. And when you want reprints and enlargements, you’ll get great prices.

I’ll admit that Tom explains the session package better on the phone than I do in a letter, so if you need more information be sure to call Tom Brickhouse at 716-480-1536. He’ll be happy to answer your questions — no obligation, of course.

FAMILY PORTRAITS SHOULD REFLECT HOW FAMILIES NORMALLY INTERACT

One of the neatest things about a photo session with Tom is that they reflect how families normally interact and combine—father with son—brother with sister—mom with all the kids—brother & sister with the dog and cat—the kids individually—the whole family together—Tom likes to photograph people in various combinations. So if you’re thinking about having a photo session done, why not get everyone in on it? Don’t forget the dog, cat, pet pig (well, we may have to do a location shoot for the pig). Favorite toys, hobbies, too. You’ll get a wonderful collection of photos.
